Position: Addiction Management Specialist
Location: Newark, NJ
Reports to: Director
of Program Development
Overview:
Responsible for the development and implementation
of population and age appropriate, creative approaches
to the delivery of drug and alcohol abuse prevention program
services to homeless, runaway and at-risk youth up to the
age 21 and their families.
Responsibilities:
Performs comprehensive intake and assessment of all prevention
program participants. Develops case plan. Conducts individual,
group and family interventions. Supervises all community
education and information efforts. Trains and coordinates
peer counselors and educators. Supervises outreach prevention
activities. Supervises all drug treatment or prevention
referrals and primary interaction with referral agencies.
Conducts staff development and supervision of substance
abuse prevention and intervention approaches and techniques.
Advocates for youth in need of prevention and treatment
services. Promotes drug alcohol awareness throughout the
Covenant House community. Documents all pertinent data
and information and maintains appropriate records. Assimilates
and applies all collected data to evaluate program performance.
Requirements:
Must possess a bachelors’ degree
in Social Work, Psychology or a related field and be certified
in addictions counseling (CAC, CDC CADC). Two to five years
of substance abuse intervention or prevention experience
with an adolescent and /or young adult population from
racial and ethnic minority and or sexual minorities is
preferred. Bi-lingual English/Spanish is preferred. A valid
New Jersey Drivers license and an insurable driving record
required.
